APPSC Exam Pattern & Syllabus

The APPSC Group 2 selection process consists of three stages: Screening Test (Prelims), Main Examination (which determines final merit), and a qualifying Computer Proficiency Test (CPT).

1. Stage 1 — Screening Test (150 Marks): An objective paper on General Studies & Mental Ability divided into five equal sections of 30 marks each (Indian History, Geography, Indian Society, Current Affairs, and Mental Ability). Marks scored in the Screening Test are used solely to shortlist candidates for the Main Exam and are not added to the final merit total.

2. Stage 2 — Main Examination (300 Marks): Conducted across two objective papers of 150 marks each. Paper 1 covers the Social and Cultural History of Andhra Pradesh (75 marks) and the Indian Constitution (75 marks). Paper 2 covers the Indian & AP Economy (75 marks) and Science & Technology (75 marks).

Noted: Both Prelims and Mains carry a negative marking penalty of 1/3rd mark for every wrong answer.

3. Stage 3 — Computer Proficiency Test (CPT): A 60-minute practical test on office automation, word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation software required for final appointment.
